To activate the Fashion Open Studio series during COP26 in Glasgow we developed a concept based around human billboards and Victorian ‘Banner Ladies’. During COP26 they acted as itinerant performers initiating open studios and workshops to highlight sustainable makers from around the globe. Roaming the city as human carriers of the Fashion Open Studio messages and activities, the performances served as both a personal manifesto from the designers and a kit-of-parts for impromptu Fashion Open Studios to take place across the city. The adaptable wearable object made up of 9 elements represented designers from around the world and their work, worn by a performer to engage the public with an action, technique or process from the designer's digital open studio events as a mini-workshop for the public.
