Monogram
Installation at Pforzheim University 2009
MONOGRAM used a simple webcam and a high-contrast setting to offer a playful and interactive way to experience the principle of the fashion collection we developed based on the alphabet. Patterns for the garments were cut following the outlines of the DIN Font - testing a form of patterncutting wherin drape and adjustment are main elements and chosen as creative challenge to achieve unisex fit. The added artefacts developed new ways to support garment functionality and reintorduced their ancient means as fixtures and elements to tighten draped textiles.
In the installation, visitors were challanged to use their bodies to do the same. When suceeded, our participants received a code allowing them to retrieve their created body-letters as images from a data base.
Within the 2 day install, over 400 letters made of bodies were created.
